Who We Are: Partners in Healthcare of Virginia, LLC

Partners in HealthCare of Virginia started in February 2008 with 6 local people who wanted to ensure choice for consumers in determining their health care needs. Since that time we have grown to over 175 companies representing the best that health care has to offer. Our members come from all areas of health care. It is our mission to make certain that our community offers the consumer a real choice in determining who will be their health care providers.

Our current membership comes from 11 hospitals including HCA, VCU Medical Center, and Bon Secours, a large number of Assisted Living Communities, Adult Day Care, Independent Living Facilities, In Home Care, Medical Equipment Companies, Home InFusion, Hospice, Complex Care, Nurse & Rehab, Medical Consultants, Wellness Consultants, Specialty Movers for Seniors, Speech Therapy, Elder Care Attorneys, Non Profits, Ambulance Services, and Final Arrangement Services etc. Along with these we have Insurance Specialists, Financial Consultants and major communication networks CBS 6, Main Line Broadcasting, and a number of senior communication publications.

Partners in HealthCare is committed to offering a professional experience through a diverse membership who competes to make certain that each experience by their customers is a positive episode in navigating the healthcare maze.

We seek members who endeavor to enrich the lives of their customers by providing better information and better health as a result of consumer choice.

Our initial concern was to provide a professional experience, coordinating services with local hospitals through a series of lunch-and-learn programs and a unique web site, streamlining choice by the consumer.

Members of Partners in HealthCare have access to monthly educational and networking meetings designed to showcase and inform. The public and non-members are always invited to attend. These free meetings are well attended with 75-100 companies participating. We also offer a speaker’s bureau and postings for events, jobs and résumés. Many university students are using our site to find ways to participate in intern programs or acquire jobs with our members. Later in the year we will be providing listings for Clinical Trials, information regarding Cutting Edge Technology and a blog area, called Health Care Café, for consumers to discuss their issues with experts at our member companies.

We have two Health Care Symposiums each year sponsored by Partners' members and HCA Hospitals, with participation of VCU Medical Center. These non-political Symposiums entitled “Caring Conversations” are designed to foster professional growth within the community and provide the public information on current trends and thoughts regarding the issues dealing with distribution of healthcare. By engaging Nationally Known Speakers such as Dr. Peter Boling from VCU Medical Center, and other prominent local Health care providers such as Dr. Baxter Perkinson DDS, Dr. Richard Tate, MD, Dr. Anthony M. Spensieri, MD, and Lynn Beattie from the National Council on Aging (among others) we are able to provide an enrichment program for all attendees. Our success garnered the attention of the Virginia Governor's Office and we were fortunate to have the First Lady of Virginia as a speaker at our event in October. As an encouragement for professionals to attend, HCA Hospitals (through the University of Virginia) offered free Continuing Education Credit for qualified attendees.

Due to the success of these programs we have been approached by other major Teaching Hospitals to co-sponsor our next Symposium event in the spring. These events along with the CBS Segment “Tuesdays with Partners”, give the public a chance to meet Health Care providers and our members a chance to highlight the best their company has to offer. Additionally, Partners in Healthcare has been asked to participate in the Virginia HealthCare Innovators Award.

The genesis of our journey was born out of the myriad of healthcare choices available but not easily accessible to the professional or the community. With hundreds of providers it was almost impossible to get information in one space where the consumer (and family) or the professional could research any time of day or night the facilities or services available to assist someone in need. Now at PartnersVA.com you can not only find the services you need but you can click on the company to study their web site and then click on the next company to compare services. You will also get the name, phone number, and email address of a marketing person who wants to take your call or correspondence.

As we continue to grow with the addition of new hospital locations throughout the state, it is the consumer who will benefit from greater choice and lower cost. Competition gathered in one easy-to-find location fosters greater flexibility to everyone seeking a solution for their own unique needs. We will continue to get the word out to the public and professionals, so the dreams of professional service meeting individual needs will be a reality.
